I have, etc., to refer to your

(6) Confidential staff despatch No.31 of

the 29th April, 1948 forwarding a

petition from Inspector Shepherd on

behalf of the pre-war non-gazetted

officers of the Police Force.

2. I should be grateful if you would

inform Inspector Shepherd that I have

given careful consideration to this

petition but that I am satisfied that

all the matters raised have been

satisfactorily dealt with in

accordance with the policy I have

approved and that I see no cause to

intervene..

3. I enclose, for such action, if any,

as you may see fit to take on those

points not covered in the above

petition, a copy of a letter dated

April, 1948, which Inspector Shepherd

addressed directly to Lord Listowel.

I should be grateful if you would

inform Inspector Shepherd that

Lord Listowel has received and

considered this letter and that it has

been forwarded to you for disposat as
